Dr. John W. Smith is a physician with more than 25 years of medical and surgical experience in multiple therapeutic areas including general medicine, critical care, general and trauma surgery, oncology, oncologic reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery.
Dr. Smith’s clinical work includes training at world-renowned institutions with many of the world’s most experienced and respected physicians. He completed his general surgery internship, residency, and chief residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital & Health Center in NY. This was followed by a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical Center/NorthShore University Hospital in NY. Soon thereafter, he was selected to join the staff of the Mayo Clinic as a Plastic Surgery Resident and Chief Resident in MN. His training continued as the one and only Aesthetic Surgery Fellow when he joined the private practice of internationally renowned plastic surgeon, Jack A. Friedland, MD in AZ. Dr. Smith rounded out his training after being selected to a staff position as a Reconstructive Breast, Head & Neck, Microsurgery Oncology, Aesthetic Surgery Fellow at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer and also an Aesthetic Surgery Fellow at the Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital, both in NY.
Charise R. Frazier is a shareholder at the preeminent health law firm, Hall, Render. She concentrates her practice in general health working for a variety of health care entities on a wide range of simple and complex matters such as, clinical services, patient care, compliance counsel, behavioral and mental health, data management, electronic health records, licensing, accreditation, mergers and acquisitions. As compliance counsel, Charise's services include fraud and abuse analysis under Stark Law and the Anti-Kickback Statute, conducting compliance assessments and mock audits, developing policies and procedures, providing training and education, conducting internal investigations and responding to government investigations. Charise also has over 20 years' experience in advising clients regarding state and federal privacy and security laws, including multi-state incidents. She has handled hundreds of investigations and analyses of privacy and security breaches. She has successfully resolved numerous breach investigative requests from Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights. She partners with clients to provide cost effective, practical solutions on all matters. Charise holds a Bachelor's in Business Finance from Valparaiso University (Honors College) and a J.D.-M.H.A. from Indiana University. Charise speaks locally and nationally on health law issues.
Yoshida J. Kirkwood, PA-C is a practicing Physician Assistant for over 20 years passionate about helping arm women with the knowledge to transform their lives for the better.
Her motto is “do what you should do now so you can do what you want to do later”.
Yoshida has worked in many diverse clinical settings and gained invaluable experience in the fields of general family medicine, women’s health, facial aesthetics, endocrinology and cardiology.
She created AVOW Health and Wellness to help guide women to reach their health and wellness goals through compassionate accountability. Yoshida believes you must strive for total wellness- physically, mentally, and spiritually. She leads group wellness classes, creates wellness courses, and works one-on-one with clients to solve some of their most frustrating health challenges.
Yoshida holds a BS Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas Medical Branch and a BA Degree in Chemistry from Texas A&M University. She is a certified PA from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, a Fellow of The American Academy of Physician Assistants and a member of the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants.
Judge Genesis Draper is the presiding judge for Harris County Criminal Court at Law No. 12. Prior to taking the bench she served as an assistant public defender for 12 years at both the state and federal level. Since beginning her legal career, she has worked closely with members of the community on criminal justice reform issues in an attempt to achieve equal justice in Harris County, most recently having served on the board of directors for the Texas Civil Rights Project. She is also an adjunct professor for the University of Houston Law Center, teaching Advanced Trial Skills, and has served as faculty to the nationally recognized public defender advocacy organization, Gideon’s Promise, featured in the HBO documentary Gideon’s Army. She received a J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law and a B.A. from Spelman College. She is married to Brandon Leonard, a local criminal defense attorney, and has two children, Asa and Phoenix, who are the lights of her life.
